14th Whitebridge New Year Hotel Investment Summit, London (01.19)

We would like to thank all this year's attendees, our faithful co-host (STR) and our step-in co-host (Katten) for making Whitebridge's 14th New Year Hotel Investment Summit, held on Thursday 10th January 2019, such a great success.

Please contact one of the team for a copy of the slide show presented on the evening, and here below a few take-away nuggets:

  • For once it was proved that Andrew Neil is fallible, in that UK GDP estimates for 2018 as at Jan 2019 were lower than in Jan 2018 - 12 months of Brexit uncertainty no doubt to blame.

  • Hotel markets in Regional UK and London performed more strongly than expected (so much for Brexit uncertainty), except for resorts on the South Coast of England, where growth was a little less than predicted (so much for booming staycationing).

  • Hotel markets across the world are performing strongly, except in Middle East where new supply and low oil prices are suppressing KPIs.

  • Other themes discussed included: the revealing of the new Face of Evil, Marriott's latest new brand and come on England in the RWC.

  • For the first annual quiz, only 14 out of 230 attendees participated and congratulations to Martin Jessop for winning 'nearest the pin'.
